The state of Utah values the education provided to its public school children. The commitment to improving the state's public school system includes making the schools more diverse. This diversity has created a need for qualified teachers to be able to meet all the educational needs of public school students in the state.

Utah's teachers play an instrumental role in providing nurturing environments for children to grow and develop. With this much responsibility in a teacher's hands, Utah has prescribed the following requirements for its teacher's certification: Teachers must meet prerequisite coursework for their chosen teaching areas, hold a Bachelor's degree, complete a teacher's certification program, and successfully pass a written test.

An educator's prep program is a combination of classroom work and a supervised internship. The coursework introduces relevant teaching principles and pedagogy, the art and science of teaching. The fieldwork provides the opportunity for a novice teacher to gain confidence and experience while being mentored by a licensed teacher. An educator is well prepared to guide a successful classroom when he or she has completed this program.

Those who wish to teach as they complete their teacher certification program requirements can select to use Utah's alternative certification process. A teacher seeking certification alternatively in Utah must already hold a Bachelor's degree from an accredited school prior to applying. The alternate path to certification requires a small fee, a completed application as well as the official transcripts for additional degrees and credits you have earned.

Additionally, Utah does accept certain teaching licenses from out of state. Presently, Utah will approve a teacher's certification request from over 40 other states. The reciprocity requirements can be viewed by visiting the state's Office of Education. Everyone's background is different, so it is important to clarify your concerns through this office.

The state of Utah does require a teacher's certification candidate to successfully pass certain written exams. Unlike most states, Utah does not require a basic skills test for teaching license candidates. The exams that assess a teacher's competency in the subject area are a part of Praxis II. Specifically, this test evaluates a teacher on his or her ability to understand the Principles of Learning and Teaching as well as his or her specialty area.

The teaching industry is expected to grow at an average or moderate pace. An educator will find the best chance of employment in schools that are identified as 'high demand' from the school district's administration. The median annual wage for a middle school teacher was around $46,000 a couple years ago. This differs slightly from the average annual salary for a secondary school teacher which was over $43,000 for the same time period. An elementary education teacher fell somewhere in the middle with an average yearly wage of over $45,000. 日本語教育能力検定
